Sue Van Horsen, Heidi Kirkpatrick, and Yvette Meltzer
8 February- 23 March, 2013
Artist Reception Friday February 8th from 6 to 8pm
Wall space is thrilled to head into a new direction this month. For the first time we are exploring the ideas of integrating photography with household or previously discarded objects. The gallery is excited to showcase the work of three talented women each approaching the idea of Object in a unique way.
Heidi Kirkpatrick, a Portland based creative artist, takes small ordinary objects, and makes them extraordinary. These pieces are small treasures, intimate objects resonant with mystery and nostalgia.
Sue Van Horsen, based in Santa Barbara, crafts stories from discarded household objects, commercial appliances, and other found materials, weaving her personal photographs and unattributed images together to give new lives to previously anonymous gadgetry. We are also pleased to have on hand a selection of Sue’s crafted guitars, also made from found objects. We will have 5 of these very special one of a kind instruments.
We are also pleased to introduce Chicago artist Yvette Meltzer. Her brilliant series, Revolutions, takes the static object of a dryer in a laundromat, gives it new purpose with stunning color and organic shapes.
