This exhibition is guest curated by Nancy Gifford and includes works by Dorothy Churchill-Johnson, Rafael Gaete, Stafford Taylor, David Cooley, Susan Venable, David J. Diamant and Christopher Rupp. The exhibition will be on display from Friday, February 21 through Saturday, April 5, 2014, with an artist reception on Saturday, March 8th from 1:00 – 5:00 PM. This artist reception will coincide with the Funk Zone’s inaugural SECOND SATURDAYS Art Walk event wherein fifteen art venues in the Funk Zone will kick off a monthly showcase of the Funk Zone’s vibrant artistic community.

“Obsession” focuses on art which features a compulsively diligent persistence, varying from mediums of copper wire to dog shapes made of pills. Though the works appear to have little in common, curator Nancy Gifford chose these as they reveal “an endearing lunacy that links their particular love of minutia.” The detailed precision of these works draws the viewer in to realize the connections and experience the same fascination which drove Gifford to bring them all together.
